The Fry Chronicles
General Reviews

( 3 Votes )

Stephen Fry picks up his life story where his previous book, Moab is My Washpot, left off. His openness and honesty are totally engaging. In this book, we accompany him as he enters Cambridge University and the entertainment world and begins life-long friendships with Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson. He has many fans who watched him in "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" and "Jeeves and Wooster". His greatest attraction is his mastery of the English language. As he says himself, "I like words - strike that, I love words - and while I am fond of the condensed and economical use of them in poetry, in song lyrics, in Twitter, in good journalism and smart advertising, I love the luxuriant profusion and mad scatter of them too." There are countless Youtube videos of Fry as well as Google and Yahoo entries. But when you get right down to it, he is a simple man who has an eternal love affair with words. Listening to him and reading his books is a real treat.
