Amy Chua is a woman on a mission. She is a competitive mother who embraces her own version of Chinese parenting. Her strict rules drive her two girls to excel in violin and piano. Taking lessons at the premiere Neighborhood Music School and performing at Carnegie Hall, both daughters maintain a strong bond with their hard-driving mother. You sometimes wonder if her parenting methods are really about Chua's self sastisfaction or for the betterment of her daughters. Chua eventually learns a lesson from her 13 year old daughter in the end. This book is a captivating bestseller that will arouse strong feelings in any parent, whether or not they agree with Chua's parenting style.
