|The Promise of a Pencil|
While traveling the world during a semester abroad program, Adam Braun asked people, "If you could have anything in the world, what would you ask for?" When a poor boy in India told Braun that he wanted a pencil, Braun was shocked.
Braun soon found that people around the world are desperate for an education. They want pencils, paper, and teachers. There are governments eager to educate their people but they lack the necessary resources. Beginning with a $25 deposit, Braun founded Pencils of Promise and the organization has now completed over 200 schools in southeast Asia and Latin America.
The Promise of a Pencil chronicles the birth of a dynamic movement to make a difference in the world, one school at a time.
