The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association (CMFCAA) will bring its 38-foot mobile boutique, “The Trunk,” to Scenic Regional Library’s Owensville branch on Thursday, July 9, and Hermann branch on Thursday, July 16, from 10:30am. to 2:30pm. at each location. “The Trunk” serves foster youth, adoptive families, and kinship families by providing gently used clothing, shoes, baby items, and home goods for free.

The St. Clair branch of Scenic Regional Library and the St. Clair Historical Museum are teaming up to celebrate 100 years of Route 66 with a special Route 66 Centennial Cruise-In on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about the Route 66 Centennial Cruise-In and other upcoming Route 66 programs, scenicregional.org/route66.

Foundation for Strengthening Families, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based out of St. Louis, will partner with Scenic Regional Library this summer to provide free weekly meal packs for children at select branch locations from June 29 through August 17. Families will receive a week’s worth of breakfasts and lunches, with items such as pancakes, waffles, French toast sticks, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, tuna, fruit, vegetables, and milk.

Scenic Regional Library is pleased to partner with Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation to offer Case Manager visits at participating branch locations. The partnership grew out of the successful semesterlong graduate social work practicum completed by Jenny Reynoso, which highlighted the growing need for social service assistance within the library’s communities. Case Managers can assist individuals in finding resources related to housing, food, childcare, healthcare, employment, and transportation. They can also provide guidance for accessing support services such as mental health care, counseling, domestic violence resources, and substance use treatment. In addition, assistance is available for applying for benefits, including SNAP, Medicaid, unemployment, and disability, as well as replacing important documents such as IDs and birth certificates.

Scenic Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program is officially underway, and this year’s theme, UNEARTH A STORY™, is inviting patrons of all ages to discover the joy of reading all summer long. The program features reading challenges, prizes, and events for children, teens, and adults throughout the summer season. Those who complete the program will earn a completion prize, including a book for kids and teens and a themed keychain for adults. Participants may also enter prize drawings for additional rewards. Adult prize baskets, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will vary by branch.
