NEA Big Read Kick-Off Event
Book Giveaway Tuesday, September 3

Beginning Tuesday, September 3, pick up a free paperback copy of Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel at any Scenic Regional Library branch and the Washington Public Library (while supplies last).

E-book and e-audiobook copies of the novel are available through Cloud Library and Overdrive.

The 2014 novel takes place in the Great Lakes region after a flu pandemic has devastated the world, killing most of the population. It won the Arthur C. Clarke Award, given for the best science fiction novel, in 2015.

 


NEA Big Read Programming Brochure

Between September 24 and November 5, Scenic Regional Library and its partners will be offering 77 free adult and family programs based on the themes of Station Eleven. The NEA Big Read Programming Brochure contains all the programs, along with dates, times, locations, and other details. A copy can be picked up at any Scenic Regional Library branch and the Washington Public Library.

Prizes: Best of Show (2 prizes), $100 gift card; Awards of Excellence (6 prizes), $50 gift card
Submission deadline: Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 5:00 PM
Award reception: Wednesday, October 30, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with Arts Midwest.

The objective of the NEA Big Read is to get as many people as possible in a community to read and discuss the same book.
