Teen Summer Reading Program 2019

Are you ready to take the Universe of Stories challenge? This summer, teens can participate in the Summer Reading Program in more ways than ever before. Plus, you can win great prizes. Use the hashtag #SRLReads19 on social media to participate and connect with other patrons, too.
Stop by your local branch and pick up a challenge form to participate. The form lists multiple reading challenges such as reading an award winner or reading a book with the word “Universe” in the title. This year, we have added new challenges such as attending a Star Party, download a song, and even play a board game at the library! Check off the challenges as you complete them, and write down the name of the book, magazine, or event in the space provided.

Once you complete 3 challenges, bring the form back to your local branch. You’ll receive a free book of your choice. You’ll also be entered into an end-of-summer drawing for prizes including a galaxy water bottle, Spaceteam game, astronaut USB light, and more!

For each additional challenge you complete, you will earn an additional entry into the end-of-summer drawing. For help on finding your next challenge, check out our resources below:

Teen Events at the Hermann branch

T.i.L.T. Tuesdays @ 2pm

  • 6/18 – Book end painting
  • 7/9 – Make your own galaxy shoes, bring your own white canvas shoes and friends and create a swirling galaxy to take with you!


Teen Events at the New Haven branch

  • Thursday 6/13 @ 6pm – Galaxy Art, create your own masterpiece on canvas as well as paint scenes on the teen area windows
  • Thursday 6/27 @ 6pm – Make and take a Nebula necklace and bracelet
  • Thursday 7/11 @ 6pm – Bring your own white or light t-shirt to be ice dyed, a far-out way to tie dye
